Kyla’s Cut-A-Thon

A long journey a
special girl

Kyla Pokorny is a
sixteen years old girl who enjoys spending time with friends and family just
like any other 16 yr old. She currently attends Enfield high school previously
lived in the Granby/East Granby area. However unlike every 16 yr old Kyla at
fourteen was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma bone cancer. Kyla is an amazing
brave girl who took on this battle with an open mind. The Child Cancer Journey can be a very long for
children who find themselves suddenly pulled from their normal routines of
hanging out with friends and family, going to school. However not Kyla, she
is a courageous teenager with a positive energy about her, she loves to make everyone smile and
laugh. Her favorite hobby is photography this allows her to capturing the
moment and memories in a single snap shot.

Her journey has been
long for two years she underwent three surgeries and seventeen rounds of chemo.
Then she had a symbol of hope for a year and a half the doctors thought she was
cancer free and life was normal once again.
In August 2013 two new masses appeared in her skull. Kayla is now on a
new Journey to once again face this battle of cancer her road is paved with treatment
every three weeks for the next year and radiation in a couple months.
