It says Around Town but the headline is UTAH. Utah is not near Natick!! I think everyone should notRead More open an article on Patch unless they see their town's name in the headline. So If it doesn't say Natick, then we all know it is not LOCAL to the Natick Patch. The less clicks these Patch sites get, the fewer advertisers they will get and then perhaps they will realize if we want sensational news from across the country we'd go back to Patch's former owners AOL and the HuffPost! Those here from other Patch sites - I think you should do the same only click on articles that mention your community's name. No name. No click!

OK OK- you guys live in denial. You're choice- Just remember- if you can't recognize the enemy, youRead More will lose. UN cannot dictate anything to America we are a sovereign nation with sovereign states and states rights. Or don't we? If you believe that, that is in jeopardy. So you can sell, donate, your land to the state, feds, land trust, for whatever THEY determine the land use, whether its open space or an apartment complex. maybe not at this time, but then again- they can do whatever they wan with it. And of course you trust them. But "YOU" won't be able to put a swing set on it for your grandchildren. Good luck.

As we get closer to Scamalambadingdong Day (originally Earth Day) we need to spread the credit weRead More find the mess we call Connecticut to both Parties. The Californication of Connecticut is accelerated by being down wind from Christie land and Schumerville. Planning does not exist, has not in the Pop Culture era. US is 3% of all dirt on Earth. 5% of US is "developed'. 50% of the US population lives within 50 miles of an Ocean or Great Lakes. High risers near our fabulously run State rail system, with easy access to our pristine Federal I95 with no industry (especially gun manufacturing) polluting our Nutmeg crops we are already in Paradise...why more open space. Our nutcase proud descendants of the original Tea Party are scoffed at and dismissed, while our eminent Brooklyn transplant Senator Suethemall gets no credit for our past or future. He was Attorney General for 25 years and created every wonderful land law we thrive under. Just 'cuze his heroic service as a boot on the neck of landowners does not have any mud from the swamps of Viet Nam, we should not hold that against him. Just 'cuze he amassed his fortune erasing neighborhoods with his Empire State bottom dredging in-laws we need to take them seriously. Rowland will probably be able to reflect from his confines about his glorious legacy and chumming his way through the Shays Daze of creating the most Politically Korrect State in the Union. (Union approval required of course.) Please know that the Tea Party is responsible for all of this. Without tea as a choice we would just all be gulping down Green (union only manufactured) Kool Aide paid for by taxes collected by RepublicanDemocrats. Next thing the tea people will be accused of is trying to protect our environment with common sense instead of common cents and even daring to consider hunting on open space. Time to pop the green bubble and return to 200 plus years of success, all started by the original Tea Party.

Hilarious! I posted that comment Monday to see if you left wing kooks were still hiiting this, andRead More you took the bait.Tabassco, theres no doubt you are a shut in with nothing else to do.For your information Plato,Bush never uttered the words "mission accomplished". That was a sign put up by the Captain of the aircraft carrier.Bush did fly jets in the National Guard.Obama did, well, what?Hand out flyers?
Tabasco April 16, 2014 at 08:14 am
Sorry, Kev. Blaming the captain of the USS Lincoln for the banner... much like the BushRead More administration blaming the faulty Iraq WMD intelligence on the CIA means you don't have a grasp of the facts. "When he received an advance copy of the speech, U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld took care to remove any use of the phrase "Mission Accomplished" in the speech itself. Later, when journalist Bob Woodward asked him about his changes to the speech, Rumsfeld responded: "I was in Baghdad, and I was given a draft of that thing to look at. And I just died, and I said my God, it's too conclusive. And I fixed it and sent it back... they fixed the speech, but not the sign." What Bush DID say repeatedly was 'major combat operations are over'. But between the famous May speech and October that same year, 217 US military deaths and over 1000 wounded occurred in Iraq. And if Bush and his team didn't like the banner as a backdrop, they could have had it removed. The last time Bush flew and landed a jet was in the 1970s. No respectable military pilot or commander would allow someone that far out of practice to land on the deck of an aircraft carrier. He may have been dressed up as the commanding pilot, but the guy dressed as a co-pilot landed the A-10. The USS Lincoln was NOT in the Persian Gulf at the time. It was 30 miles off the coast of San Diego.... well within helicopter range.

Deja Vu: 4 years ago (March 30, 2010) severe flooding occurred along Hunt's Brook. How chillingRead More that the residents of that area should face the possibility of flooding again, on the same date, without any corrective action by the Town of Waterford being done. Lightning might not strike twice in the same place but flooding certainly can; 1982, 2007, 2008, 2009, 3/14/2010, 3/30/2010. Now, before people jump on the bandwagon with the infamous "You live in a floodplain, move out" take a moment to educate yourself; look up the 100 and 500 year flood zones at the FEMA Map Service Center. Interesting isn't it, that we haven't experienced a 100 or 500 year rainfall event, but the residents continue to be flooded out. Kevin M. Ziolkovski / flood victim

Save for retirement and college too and ever rising gas prices. Conservatism will never trump the selfish needs.
Matt March 4, 2014 at 05:17 pm
Maria: What on earth does any of that babble have to do with dialing a different area code? (answer:Read More nothing) I think you are completely missing the point here. It is a new area code for NEW phone numbers. This changes nothing with current phone numbers. This changes nothing for you. This changes nothing for anyone, anywhere. It is just making more NEW numbers available for NEW phones and NEW people. Not you. So there is no inconvenience to you or anyone else anywhere. P Troy: That would be wonderful. There is no debate about the fact that burning carbon based fuels is creating climate change. ItRead More comes down to whether or not anyone wants to pay the cost of changing the source of the energy we use. I just added more insulation to my house and bought new, highly insulated garage doors. I will replace my windows and will add solar panels in the future. I do walk or ride my bike when feasible. Electric cars only shift the burden of energy production to the oil and gas and coal companies. I want to spend limited tax dollars on alternative energies that will strategically make the USA another Saudi Arabia and create jobs here at home. If you don't have cancer or a chronic heart ailment you are probably not going to get the insuranceRead More company to pay up. They are cheap. Right, Cynthia. That's what I thought when the show started, too. Actually, I was ready to blame theRead More parents for not making sure the kid was getting care. But then I found out that the father had literally taken his son to an ER that night and begged them to admit him, but there was no place for him, so they sent him home. The family had been responsible. I was actually astounded at how loving the father sounds after what he had been through. And while you may be able to blame a cancer patient for not taking his meds, I'm not sure if you can do the same with someone who is mentally ill. I don't know.
AnneMarie Heller Cox January 27, 2014 at 07:14 pm
Ever struggled giving a cat a pill? Try forcing a mentally ill child or teenager to take medicationRead More they refuse. The mental illness often plays into the refusal. Where is the medically safe home or hospital enviornment for these children Cynthia? I would love to know, because families are desperate to find them. Parents are no longer able to make decisions or seek placements for the children if the young adult refuses treatment....it is a nightmare for parents. It is also why so many mentally ill are in prison....
