A Winter Farmers' Market, Valentines for Our Troops, a LEGO Build, and More in Granby and East Granby This Weekend

Check out what is going on in the region this weekend.

Winter Farmers' Market
Friday, 4 p.m. - Start the year off by striving to incorporate healthy eating into your diet regimen this year. Make a pledge to yourself to consume cleaner, healthier and more locally grown foods. You might even win a farmers’ market basket of goodies by participating in the Facebook contest. Photographs  of “happy customers” are featured, and every time you “like” one of them, your name is entered into our market raffle. You must be present to claim your prize, so come and support local farmers and entrepreneurs in the community by visiting the market.

Knitting Circle
Friday, 6 p.m. - Bring your supplies and come knit and chat. Special discounts on books about knitting and/or with knitting in the title. For details and to RSVP, visit https://www.facebook.com/events/189440674583927/.

Kaskeset Concert
Saturday, 8 p.m. - Kaskeset (”scales” in Hebrew) was founded in 1996 and has become one of the nation's premiere Jewish a cappella groups, recording five full-length albums. Its repertoire includes songs in English and in Hebrew pertaining to Jewish values and culture. The group performs a wide spectrum of music, including choral works, liturgy, rock, pop, and Israeli. Kaskeset was the first Jewish contemporary group in the world to advance to the semi-finals of the International Championship for Collegiate A Cappella, winning a Contemporary A Cappella Recording Award. Refreshments will be served after the concert. Tickets are $15 at the door and $10 for adults and $5 for students in advance. Under 18 are free. For reservations or questions, please contact Liza Mandell at 860-643-4287 or e-mail lizamandell@gmail.com.

Valentines for Our Troops
Sunday, 1 p.m. - Come together to make valentines to be sent to our Troops by Give2TheTroops, Inc. You bring your creativity. Supplies will be provided. For more details and to RSVP, visit https://www.facebook.com/events/1444692275746250/?context=create.

LEGO Build

Sunday, 2 p.m. - Come and see what your child can build with 40,000 LEGO bricks including DUPLO bricks for younger children. All creations must be left behind for the next build. Bring your children and their friends for a fun, constructive afternoon. Adults must accompany their child, but this is a great time for chatting and meeting with other parents as your child plays. This is open to anyone from any town. The Scout Hall has been the recipient of 40,000 LEGO bricks through the generosity of the LEGO Corporation. Anyone wishing to donate LEGO bricks for the Scout Hall LEGO Builds that are no longer used and taking up space, contact Nancy Masters. They will go to a good cause and you can receive a letter for a tax deduction. They must be LEGO bricks, as other brands of bricks do not fit with LEGO bricks. For more information contact Masters at RN1757@aol.com or 860-289-5085.
