Good morning, Granby and East Granby! Today is Dec. 30, 2013; there is one day left in the year. Make the most of it. Like me. Chances are, I’m still in my pajama pants, and will be until Jan. 2.
Anyhoo, 2013 was quite a year. My wife and I had a baby, who currently is destroying our lives as we know them. Right now, Kaitlin is trying to feed him strained carrots. In exchange, I am writing this week ahead.
I got the better end of the deal, by far, as she is wearing far more carrot than the baby has eaten.
They make babies cute so we don’t kill them.
Happy New Year!
Here are five things going on in the area this week:
1. It’s New Year’s Day in two days (nothing but breaking news from us at Patch!), so the town halls in both Granby and East Granby will be closed.
2. Big week in high school sports. The Granby Memorial boys basketball team takes on Weaver on Dec. 30 at 7 p.m. in a rematch of last winter’s thrilling state Class S championship game that the Bears won.
3. On Dec. 31, the Granby Memorial wrestling squad faces Canton in Canton.
4. The Granby Memorial boys and girls basketball teams face their Ellington counterparts on Jan 3. The boys are home, the girls are away.5. The East Granby boys basketball team faces Bethel on the road on Dec. 30. The boys and girls basketball teams face their East Windsor counterparts on Jan. 3. The boys are home, the girls are away.
