After a delay of a few days due to a mini-heat wave, Granby Memorial High football team kicked off the 2013 season Sunday with a 28-10 loss to Enfield in Granby, according to the CIAC website.
There were some bright spots, however, as Dominic Pagano ran the ball 21 times for 108 yards, while quarterback Curt Field was 18 of 34 for 203 yards, according to the Bears' blog on Patch.
Field hooked up with Pagano for an 8-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter, and Matt Holmes kicked a 21-yard field goal.
Connor Field had a good game on both sides of the ball, leading all receivers with 6 catches for 65 yards, while also having a team-high 6 tackles. While some may argue that there are no moral victories in sports, the Bears did show some improvement over last year’s season opener with the Raiders. Indeed, Granby lost that game 34-0, according to the CIAC website.
