Canton/Granby All Stars' Season Ends in State Title Game

Team played together for four years before title run.

The Canton/Granby Little League Junior Division (ages 13-14) All-Star team lost to Tolland 8-0 in the state championship title game on July 27, according to the Collinsville Press.

It’s the first Little League team from Canton to play in a state championship game, the Collinsville Press reported.

To earn a spot in the title game, Canton/Granby pitcher Peter Myers tossed a no-hitter against Edgewood of Bristol in a 2-0 victory on July 26. Myers struck out 14 of the 21 batters he faced.

In the championship game, Tolland, the defending champion, was dominant. Myers and Jake Nichols were the only Canton players with hits.

Still, Canton/Granby head coach Gary Burke was proud of his charges.

“They were a great bunch of kids and it was a great ride,” he said.
