Pajama Drive at Wells a Huge Success

Students and staff collected over 200 pairs of PJs for children in need.

The students at just completed a collection of pajamas for area children that began with a kick off PJ Day on Nov. 30.

The drive is the 2nd annual pajama drive to support The Pajama Program, a non-profit organization which provides new, warm pajamas and books to children in need, many of whom are waiting and hoping to be adopted.

In 2010, the students and staff at Wells Road Intermediate School collected 118 pairs of pajamas; this year, coordinator Kierstan Pestana, a third grade teacher at Wells, challenged them to bring in 150 pairs.

In a wonderful show of support and success, the school brought in 207 pairs of pajamas. The first 75 students who brought in pajamas were treated to a movie and snack in the school’s media center during a lunch/recess block.

The pajamas were delivered to local organizations in Enfield and Windsor for children to have as the cold winter danger season approaches.
