Granby's Capital Projects Moving Forward

Town Manager William Smith provided the Board of Selectmen with an update Monday.

Granby’s capital projects totaling $11.4 million are all moving forward on schedule, according to Town Manager William Smith.

At the Board of Selectmen meeting on Monday, Smith provided the following update:

  • Silver Street Bridge is 98 percent complete, with funding “on target and under budget.”

  • The Pond House is 75 percent complete. The structure has been erected and the building is secure. The Interior work is being finished and new water service is in place. Gutters will be installed, along with fencing and a patio.

  • Cossitt Land Acquisition - 100 percent complete

  • Granby Public Library Roof Replacement - 100 percent complete

  • Tennis Court Replacement - 98 percent complete. New light bulbs needed.

  • Streetscape Improvements and Sidewalk to Salmon Brook Park - 20 percent complete. Preliminary plans reviewed with CT DOT personnel. A grant application is being reviewed.

  • DPW Washbay and Storage. 5 percent complete. The project is on schedule for the fall.

  • Evonsion Land Purchase - 65 percent complete. A DEEP permit for cleanup of the bulky waste sites on the east and west sides of the property have been prepared. The town has contacted local farmers to plant a cover crop.

  • Emergency Generator Project - 75 percent complete. Two generators at the Town Hall and Senior Center have been installed. Three generators for the Lost Acres Fire Department have been installed. The pump station generator will be installed shortly. The middle school generator cost is running higher than expected, and the town has applied for a grant. If approved, the grant will cover the cost of the middle school generator.

  • Granby Memorial High Electronic Lab - 100 percent complete.

  • High School Athletic Fields - 75 percent complete. Contractors are in the final stages of their work.
