Granby Republicans Endorse Incumbents, Kuhnly for First Selectman

Scott Kuhnly hopes to take John Adams' seat as longtime first selectman steps down.

Granby Republicans will see a slate of mostly familiar faces this election season. Indeed, many of the candidates the party has endorsed to run for municipal office this November are incumbents.

At the top the list, the party has endorsed B. Scott Kuhnly to replace John Adams as first selectman. Kuhnly has served on the Board of Assessment Appeals, Board of Finance and currently sits on the Board of Selectmen, according to a release from the RTC.

“We are very pleased to put forward a candidate of Scott’s stature and involvement in the town," said Adams, who is leaving his posts as first selectman after 10 years. "We feel he’s demonstrated the kind of exemplary abilities we need in Granby and that he is committed to preserving our town’s unique values while leading us into the future.”

Incumbents Benjamin Perron and Ronald Walther and newcomer Melissa Migliaccio will run for the Board of Education.

Republicans endorsed Mark Lockwood for Planning and Zoning Commission and Steve Royer for Planning and Zoning Alternate. The candidates for the Zoning Board of Appeals and the ZBA Alternate include Robert Lindeyer and Liam O’Leary, respectively.

The GOP selected incumbent Celia Eggert for the Board of Assessment Appeals and has tapped John Adams for Town Moderator, according to the release.

"All these candidates have a strong commitment to the town of Granby and have a background of fiscal accountability and transparency,” the release said.
