East Granby Making Arrests Records Available

At the request of a few residents, East Granby officials will begin making arrest records available through the press, beginning Monday.

According to First Selectman Jim Hayden, residents had inquired as to why Granby and other town police logs were reported in local publications but East Granby's was not.

The answer was that the information, kept at Troop H in Hartford was not easily accessible. To meet the public's request Hayden and his staff took on the task of compiling and sending out the information. Hayden said the arrest log would be sent out every few weeks.

"In the spirit of transparency, we put in place a protocol to make the information available," he said Friday.

While the information is kept at Troop H barracks, reports are also submitted to the first selectman daily for review.

"I always knew what was going on but now we're sharing that information with the public," Hayden said.
