Ceremony to Be Held for New East Granby Fire Tanker

Open House also will be held at East Granby Fire Department Station One.

Submitted:

In June of 2013, East Granby’s Legislative Body, the “Town Meeting” approved a capital expenditure of $341,000 to purchase and equip a new tanker for the Fire Department. The purchase is part of the Town’s ongoing capital improvement plan for vehicles and infrastructure. The new 2013 Kenworth vehicle is replacing a 1974 Brockway Tanker.  The new tanker will carry 3,200 gallons of water and meets all of the latest safety specifications and requirements.  70% of East Granby is on well water and does not have fire hydrants so the tanker is a vital component of East Granby’s public safety plan.

The Fire Department is planning a traditional “wet-down” ceremony and open house at Station One, located at 7 Memorial Drive by Town Hall.  The festivities will take place on Saturday, February 8th at 1 pm, weather permitting.  Light refreshments will be provided and all are welcome to attend.  For more information call the Selectman’s Office at 860-653-2576.
