[Updated] Two Injured in Car Crash on Rt. 20 in Granby

West Granby Road around St. Therese Church was closed until around 2 a.m. Monday, according to Granby police.

[Updated] Here are the details from Capt. William Tyler of the Granby Police Department of the car crash that took place on Sunday afternoon:

A 2003 Ford Mustang traveling westbound on West Granby Road, west of Barndoor Hill left the right (north) side of roadway and struck a utility pole at 3:37 pm. The accident knocked out power to 52 Connecticut Light & Power customers for about 12 hours.

The driver, Lois Rocheleau,51, of East Hartland and the sole passenger, Alexander Rocheleau, 18, of East Hartland were transported to St. Francis by ground ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.

The incident remains under investigation with no charges filed. The roadway was closed for pole repair and electricity restoration until 3:31 am. Traffic was detoured from West Granby Road onto Bushy Hill on the east side and Day Street on the west.

[Original story] Route 20 near at 120 W. Granby Road in Granby will remained closed until around 2 a.m. Monday as a result of a one-car accident that took place Sunday afternoon.

According to Sgt. Doreen Mikan of the , a car traveling west on Route 20 struck a utility pole around 3:35 p.m., requiring a crew from Connecticut Light & Power to replace the pole. According to its website, CL&P says that 52 customers were without power as a result of the accident.

The vehicle’s two occupants - the driver and a passenger - were injured and taken by ambulance to St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, according to Mikan. The extent of the occupants’ injuries were not known, said Mikan, who also declined to release their names or the make and model of the vehicle.

Traffic in the area around where the accident took place is being diverted until the road reopens.
