Granby Police Officer Joins South Windsor Police Department

Christopher J. Poehnert joins the South Windsor Police Department after serving seven years in Granby.


Christopher J. Poehnert, who spent seven years in the Granby Police Department, has joined the South Windsor police force.

He was sworn in Monday, June 16 by South Windsor Police Chief Matthew Reed, the South Windsor Police Department announced.

Poehnert, a certified officer, served seven years with Granby police, including as an investigator and as part of the regional emergency services team.

While in the Granby department, he received the MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) Award twice as well as a Merit Award from Granby Police. Poehnert, who lives in South Windsor with his family, will now start field training in the South Windsor department.

Poehnert is a graduate of Keene State College in New Hampshire, with a degree in safety studies and sociology.
