Terry — we post the police log as a list of arrests in town. If there is an interest expressed by users to see more from the daily police journal that the Granby Police Department publishes, we'll add it.

Perry thanks for responding. Personally I believe that people would be better served by having knowledge of burglaries in their neighborhoods than seeing how many tickets were issued for traffic violations. Thank you.

Lets also illustrate my point by example. I school aged girl was approached by two men in Simsbury. There was no arrest in this case. Using your rationale, the incident would never have been reported on. Some things need to be made public so that we can increase vigilance when and where necessary and to protect ourselves and our families. It is my opinion that the information should be made available. Especially in light of the fact that our public officials are not using the resources available to them to disseminate this information. i.e. E-mail notification service that we have in place and the reverse 911 system that is available.

Terry — I understand where you're coming from, although I would have reported on such an issue had it happened in Granby or East Granby (just as Simsbury Patch reported about the incident you mentioned: http://patch.com/A-z9qy ). My rationale is simply that the log is in place to list arrests. Captain Tyler, Granby's PIO, has readily communicated information to me about major crimes and serial crimes in town. I don't have a problem noting major incidents mentioned in the daily journal, I'll try it out and see how it goes.
