Firefighters from Lost Acres and numerous area departments spent about an hour containing a garage fire at 249 Silver St. Monday night.
The detached two-story, three-bay garage was a total loss with a collapsed roof and extensive damage and firefighters concentrated on ensuring the fire did not spread to the home on the property, Lost Acres Fire Department Chief Wayne Bindas said.
The exposure caused some windows on the home to break but the firefighters were able to contain it, Bindas added.
The fire was reported shortly after 9 p.m. Monday and was controlled in approximately an hour with some 30 firefighters on scene, Bindas said.
Some firefighters were on scene until about midnight and the town’s fire marshal responded Monday night and again Tuesday and is investigating the cause, Bindas said.
