Letter to the Editor: Zawistowski Pledges to Reinstate Death Penalty

Republican candidate for the 61st District criticizes State Rep. O'Brien for voting to repeal the law.

April 13, 2012

To the Editor:

This week, Elaine O'Brien, State Representative in the 61st District, deliberately voted against the will of her constituents by voting for the repeal of the death penalty. Governor Malloy has promised to sign the bill, ensuring the end of the death penalty in Connecticut.

Showing additional disdain for public opinion on this issue, Representative O'Brien voted against an amendment, which would have put the issue to a statewide referendum.

You deserve a representative in Hartford who will represent your interests and not those of their party or personal ideology. As a candidate for State Representative in the 61st District, I will respect the will of my constituents and fight to reinstate the death penalty.

Sincerely yours,

Tami Zawistowski
Candidate for State Representative, 61st District
