SIMSBURY, CT. – Oct. 15, 2013 – Throughout the month of October, artwork by Deb Boemmels will be featured in the lobby of McLean Health Center and open for the public to enjoy. Deb has been an inspirational, self-taught artist for her entire life who specializes in watercolors and acrylic paints. Her greatest influence has always come from Mother Nature and the beauty of Earth.
Following her retirement from a career in working with the elderly, Deb now teaches art classes to seniors. Having a degree in education, she stresses the idea that people of any age are always capable of learning more. “The challenge is to empower individuals of an older age to take the risk and express themselves through art projects using different media,” said Deb. “It keeps the class interesting, creative, and fun.” Her philosophy is that everyone’s individual artistic expression is a unique gift to the world.
Deb participates in local arts and crafts shows, but works out of her home in Windsor and sells the majority of her artwork to family and friends. She is happy to take special orders for paintings and will personalize paintings or prints in this exhibit for free.
