What's going on with the Public works directors position in Granby? I haven't seen the position posted in any help wanted ads. Sure hope the town does a nationwide search for a top candidate for the salary the position is paying and gets someone with some engineering degree.

ARRESTS? REIMBURSEMENT FOR THEFTS? PENALTIES? (2 retired!) Isn't a better question, How come no one at Public Works got arrested? ACCORDING TO THE MEDIA, at least 1 admitted theft of fuel and misuse of credit card (LAPTOPS, as in 2 stolen.) RUMOR was second conspired by knowing and not reporting. (He got promoted!) Someone was also falsifying public records, using a town id that wasn't theres and so on. MEDIA reported a dispute between police chief and town manager about who knew what when. Police said he was informed, he denies it. Business as usual, ... Or is it?

The Police report is available at GPD. It makes an enlightening read. Before one speculates, one should read the report.

I for one have read the police report and as usual it doesn't speak the whole story due to the control our town manager has over the police department. If you want the real truth just stop and ask one of the employees "workers" at DPW and you will see that everything they witnessed was withheld from the report! Another cover up by the town manager. The two now being promoted were just as wrong and unethical as the one released. Time to clean house at the top level. Tell me why these high paying positions aren't being put out to the public to see what type of candidate the town can attract with the lucrative Salary and benefit package it offers at a time when many top quality people are available due to a tough economy. Time for some change.......

As a added addition to my previous comment for the record, neither of the two other managers being promoted who also have been named as wrongdoings while on the job have a degree of any kind to qualify for the positions. Two top paying positions being given to two unqualified people without even being tested or interviewed for the positions! Please do explain Mr. smith! And please do a better job then you did in your WFSB 3 interview. Stop imbarising your town and its residents.

Why not post the full report here? Then the public -and the Board of Selectmen- will have at least that much 'reliable' information (or doubt) to ask more questions. Is there also a suggestion that some town employees were excluded from the investigation while others (2) implicated are being promoted? Were employees allowed to resign (1) and retire (1) under while under investigation or implicated? How much taxpayer money went with them, in theft and benefits paid or still being paid? I remember being told the police chief reads these Patch posts and even responds from time to time. Some reporter even responds for him other times, ... Every theft investigation at public works -and I remember 3 now- goes the same place, ... nowhere even though wrongdoing is established.
