Help a Local Community Fight Cancer and Honor a Man Lost

Rose Stone and is raising funds through GoFundMe.

A community is honoring a man who lost his battle with cancer and working for those still fighting.

According to the page on GoFundMe, a bike statue was put in place on the bike trail in East Granby to honor a man who lost his life to cancer. He devoted much of his free time to bike riding and the maintenance of this bike route. Recently, the statue has disappeared and no-one knows why or what happened to it.

The page states, "A local resident who never met the family started to raise funds to have this statue replaced. It is people like him who make us still believe in the goodness of others."

When the initial goal was reached, Rose Stone posted, "Don't be discouraged if you see we have reached our goal. Any additional funds will go towards a plaque or research for the cancer association. The family does the Jim Calhoun Cancer Walk-a-thon annually and they raise funds for this. We can always send the extra in that direction!! So you can still give to a very worthwhile cause."

So far, $975 has been raised. To donate to the cause, visit the GoFundMe page.
