- WHO: Middle school students and faculty along with the South Windsor Food Alliance will plant a USDA regulated garden on Thursday, August 22nd at Timothy Edwards Middle School. This is a cooperative effort between the master gardener of the Food Alliance and a group of students from the school’s Leo Club. The principal of the school, Nancy Larson, will also take part in the gardening activities.
- WHAT: Garden Work Day will provide the Timothy Edwards Middle School kitchen with produce grown by students. The
fresh produce will be featured on the school’s salad bar and other menu lines. The students will have a hand in growing several late summer, fall and frost resistant vegetables including lettuce, beets, beans, carrots, kale, spinach and winter squash.
- WHEN: Garden Work Day will take place tomorrow, August 22, 2013. Students will participate from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. The master gardeners from the South Windsor Food Alliance will arrive before 10 to assemble raised garden beds
