The Granby Department of Recreation & Leisure Service, Granby Chamber of Commerce and Granby Lions Club are joining forces to present a Happy Holiday’s Buy Local Shopping Day as well as a town-wide tree lighting celebration on Saturday, December 8, 2012.

Retailers will be open for business during their usual business hours, however many will be offering “specials” throughout the day. The tree lighting and evening festivities will begin at 5:30pm on Merchants Way. A holiday craft fair will be held at MeadowBrook of Granby from 8am to 4pm for those who do not have an official storefront.

In addition to the tree lighting, there will be performances by the Kelly Lane and Wells Road School Chorus as well as collection of food items for the Food Bank and unwrapped toys to be distributed to area families. The music will begin at 5:30pm with the official tree lighting and greeting at 6:00pm.

Our goal is celebrate the opening of the holiday season, promote our local businesses and restaurants and to collect food and toys for those less fortunate. This event will be publicized through local media sources, the GCOC website, PTO newsletters, and more.

The event is a town-wide event. Businesses and organizations throughout Granby are encouraged to participate.

Please contact Erik Petersen at erik@adembroidery.com or Bill Ross at 860-614-8322 if you would like to participate or if you have any questions.

So they can say they did. And keep their job. This way they get to select what is necessary for themRead More to teach with. What if they did not bring their own supplies? Look at the inner city where teachers are babysitters and mothers and fathers to those kids. Where did you get your information? Probably not from a teacher who is there to teach. Teachers choose the profession knowingly and that's their choice. Possibly with low beginning wages but with security.
