Write-in Vote for Danielle Sandridge for Board of Education

Unaffiliated candidate seeks support for Granby Board of Education seat.

Submitted by Danielle Sandridge

For several years now I have been working hard for Granby students, attending virtually all of the Board of Education meetings and spending countless hours volunteering in the classroom or on committees at Kelly Lane and Kearns.  I have spoken at Town Hall meetings on behalf of the hundreds of families that simply can not attend.   I worked on budget reinstatement petitions and held signs on the town green to remind people to vote.  I attend Town Finance Board budget meetings and speak up on issues such as school reconfiguration.   I am particularly proud of the successful after-school language programs that I, along with several other advocates,  spearheaded.  I worked effectively with the Administration, the Parks and Recreation Department, the teachers and the Granby Education Foundation on this program that has impacted many younger children in our town.

One thing I am not is a politician.  In fact, I prefer to think of myself as an advocate for the children and the community.  I am not a Republican, Democrat or an Independent.  I am Unaffiliated.  At a local level, I believe that we should all work together, not based on party ideology but simply for what is best for our children and our community.

As I follow this election I am very disappointed to see the lack of real passion and commitment shown by the Board of Education candidates.  With the exception of Valorie Hollister, no other non-incumbent candidate has regularly attended school board meetings or strategy sessions.  The minutes of a meeting can not possibly capture the nature and details of the many hours of discussions taking place.

I will continue to make a difference whether from the sidelines or as a member of the Board of Education. Please use your write-in vote option on November 5th to elect me to the Board of Education.  I am informed, engaged and will hit the ground running.  My professional qualifications include a managerial background in finance and marketing.  Most importantly, I will continue to pour my heart into guiding our exemplary school system along its successful path.
