Funeral Services Set for Haley Tierney, 22, of East Granby

The graduate of East Granby High School was killed in a car accident on Monday.

Funeral arrangements have been made for Haley Tierney, the 22-year-old East Granby woman who suffered fatal injuries in a car accident early Monday morning.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, Jan. 26, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave, Windsor.

Funeral services will be on Sunday, Jan. 27, at 1 p.m. at Carmon Windsor. Burial will be private.

According to her obituary, Tierney was born in Boston to parents David Tierney and Jennie Nickerson Tierney and move to East Granby as a toddler.

She played basketball and softball when she was young and will be remembered for her outgoing personality and sense of style, the obituary said. She was a 2009 graduate of East Granby High School.

"What truly defined Haley was her caring nature, and dedication to family and friends," her obituary said. "She will be remembered for her love of life, wonderful sense of humor, infectious laugh, and her smile, which could brighten any room."

Tierney was a passenger in a car that veered off of Granville Road in Southwick, MA, down an embankment and into some trees around approximately 1:30 a.m. Monday, Southwick Lt. David Ricardi said. 

The operator of the car, Jillian Rolland, 21, of Southwick and a passenger Jayme Barry, 21, of Simsbury, were also injured and transported to Bay State Medical Center.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.

Memorial donations may be made in Haley's name to the Southwick Animal Shelter, 11 Depot St. Southwick, MA 01077, or to the charitable organization of your choice.
