Blog Updates Community on Pollock's Health Status

Over one week after an accident that sent Tyler Pollock to Hartford Hospital, the 17-year-old remains in critical but stable condition.

Nine days after an accident on Salmon Brook Street in Granby that sent Tyler Pollock to Hartford Hospital, the 17-year-old remains in critical but stable condition according to a blog Pollock's family and friends set up just two days after the accident.

"Currently things are unchanged with Ty," an update posted early Monday morning said. "We are hoping the latest consistencies in Tyler's vitals mean no more grand numeric excursions from stability."

Pollock was struck by a car driven by North Granby resident Michael Lambert while crossing Salmon Brook Street Saturday May 7. He was crossing the street in a crosswalk while on his way to meet friends at Salmon Brook Park.

Pollock was taken to Hartford Hospital following the accident according to Roger McGarrahan, the father of Pollock's friend Nicholas McGarrahan.  Roger McGarrahan had dropped Pollock off in a parking lot across the street from Salmon Brook Park just before the accident.

The post is preluded by a photo of a dog Pollock worked with at his part-time job at Kessler Kennel Farms in East Granby.

"He's missed tremendously," the kennel's owner Eric Kessler said.  "He's one of the nicest, well-mannered young men you will ever meet."

Earlier posts on the blog describe the outcry of support from Pollock's family and friends and the overwhelming number of cards they have received.

"His room is getting decorated with cards, banners and t-shirts to the point we may have to open a Tyler annex," a recent post said.

Kessler said Pollock seemed to really enjoy working with the dogs at the kennel along with his older brother Josh, who has worked there for several years.

"He always has a smile," Kessler said.  "He's great with the dogs and he's always a very hard worker."

The Granby Police Department did not have any further details on Pollock's condition other than what has been posted on the family's blog, Chief David Watkins said Monday.
