Want a Cold Beer or a Glass of Wine While You Wait for Your Haircut? Visit Granby's new Studio 17

The salon and day spa opened Tuesday and the high-class treatment it provides is one of the new business' many attractions.

With the first official haircut given to Betty Ayotte of West Suffield, new Granby salon and spa Studio 17 was officially in business Tuesday morning.

But owner Shirley Fauteux-Dunn is holding off on the grand opening party for her business, located at 17 Hartford Ave. in Granby, until Saturday, Sept. 15.

Fauteux-Dunn, a veteran hairdresser and stylist known for her work at the Hair Saloon in East Windsor, said she wanted to be closer to her home in Granville, MA, after many years of commuting.

"I wanted to put my roots down here," Fauteux-Dunn said, noting that she's very happy to be close to her family and friends, many of whom live in and around Granby. "It's a great town."

Fauteux-Dunn couldn't say enough about the help she received from her family in opening the business, inluding her husband Harry and brothers Dan and Martin, as well as her sisters, mother and father.

Among the staff at the new spa are local stylists and sisters Morgan and Paige LeTendre and Dr. Lillian Overman, a specialist in non-surgical facial treatments including Botox. Studio 17 offers cuts, color and more for men, women and children, along with a host of other services.

But the major attraction for many attendees will be the complimentary bottle of beer, glass of wine, water or juice that is served to customers as they wait.

Hours for the new business are as follows:

Monday, Tuesday and Thursday; 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Wednesday; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Friday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Saturday; 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Look for a full story on Studio 17 next week on The Granbys Patch as the date of the grand opening party draws closer. We'll have much more information about both the business and the party, including the details on prizes, discounted services, raffles and more.

Well done Granby. Having a blog will definitely encourage the residents and provide transparency.

I don't know about the behavior problems but it becomes an excuse to give the children amphetaminesRead More which increases performance in school. Since we live in a school district where performance is everything, you get a lot of parents lining up for the smart pills. As these pills will help anyone get their school work done and will help anyone concentrate. Look even the MLB has noticed an increase in ADHD: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3822193

1. Russia is not a communist state. It's a Nationalist nominal democracy / dictatorship. There isRead More private ownership there the economy there is solidly capitalistic. China is Communist in government but with a capitalist economy. North Korea is nominally a Communist state but in actuality it's a dynastic dictatorship run by one family. Now it's in China's best interest to have a peaceful pacific rim. China is making money hand over fist and it's all because of his inexhaustible labor supply. If a nuclear war hit the Korean peninsula it would be bad for China because it would rock some of China's major trading partners. I don't think China and Russia want to wipe the US off the map. They like having us around just just don't want us to be the only major super power around.

More of the same from communist nations that only wish for our ultimate demise. What do they, theRead More main communist countries (Russia and China), see in the US now? An incredibly weak and ineffective national leader with 3+ more years left. A country bogged down in "going nowhere wars." A country moving toward fiscal collapse. A country that has China as its greatest "stockholder." A country with citizens looking for the gov't to provide them with everything. A country with citizens with have incredibly poor historical perspective (see some of the above comments in this blog). Do you really think Russia and China (who recently met and did nice/nice with each other) are going to let this golden opportunity pass without taking advantage of it? What a great time for a our historical enemies to get us bogged down in a war with North Korea? If we do, wait and see when China make moves on Taiwan. Russia will expedite its military growth and instigate Iranian militancy toward Israel a US ally in the Mideast. That's only the beginning.

Joe, 1. We are not in Iran. 2. We are not fighting in N. Africa. 3. We are in Afghanistan but weRead More are in the process of pulling out and will be leaving some support there. DHS and Drug Cartels are a matter of Border security and have nothing to bellicose threats from North Korea.
