Photo Gallery: Inside Indigo Images In Granby

Wendy Van Welie's photo studio in Granby is highly regarded for its portrait work and community involvement, with Van Welie offering two internship programs through Granby Memorial High School. Take a look inside the well-appointed studio here.

Wendy Van Welie, owner of Indigo Images in Granby, has grown her lifelong passion for photography, which started in her homeland of South Africa, into a thriving business in the center of Granby.

Operating a home studio since her family moved to Granby from Minnesota in 2000, Van Welie moved into the converted house on Hartford Ave. in November 2006 as her business prospered.

"I love feeling the heartbeat in town," she said. "[Granby is] one of the hidden treasures of the valley."

Van Welie is well known for her portaits of Granby Memorial High School seniors, pets and babies. Her involvement with GMHS students extends beyond photo shoots as she runs two separate intership programs for students to learn more about and get experience with photography.

She'll expand into fashion photography in 2013, focusing on women between the ages of 35 and 65. That expansion comes from Van Welie's belief that everyone deserves at least one photo shoot that makes them feel special.
