The 9th-annual D.O.G.G.S. Daze of August was held at Salmon Brook Park in Granby on Sunday, Aug. 25.
Dozens of dogs and their owners took part in the off-leash swims, costume contest, auctions and raffles, as well as viewed the K-9 security demonstrations and vendor displays.
All of the proceeds - some $4,000 - went to offset the cost of running the Granby dog park, which costs between $4,500 and $5,000 a year to maintain, according to D.O.G.G.S. Daze co-chairman Martha Delaney.
The event was an unmitigated hit for dogs and their human friends.
“I wish they could do the dog swim more often,” said Granby resident Patty Fredo.
Mike St. Pierre said that he stopped by to support the dog park, which was the first of its kind in the Farmington Valley.
“We love using the park,” he said.
