East Granby Daycare Owner Left Baby in Hot Car at Church

The owner of a daycare who left a 3-month-old baby in her care inside a hot car, voluntarily gave up her daycare license.

An East Granby daycare owner allegedly left a 3-month-old baby she cared for inside a hot car earlier this month, according to WFSB.

Pamela Lacharite, 44, of East Granby, reportedly left the baby girl in the back seat of her car for 20 minutes when she went into Valley Brook Community Church to pick up children from Vacation Bible School. Church workers said the baby was left in the car for at least 20 minutes. Police said the temperature was close to 85 degrees outside, but the infant was found to be safe.

Granby Police Chief Carl Rosensweig told WFSB: "She said that she just forgot about the child she was caring for. It wasn't her child and she had just forgotten. As soon as she realized the mistake, she ran out to the car and found the church workers taking care of the child."
